    the proposed District 5 resembles the same gerry mandering as the old District 3. Hope this is corrected when the redistricting is finally approved.

    When will we be able to elect a representative the reflects our community.

  2. Ken, I agree with you that gerrymandering is bad, but it is required. The ordering of Section 1 and Section 2 of amendment 6, with 2 subordinate to 1, means that District 3 can not be eliminated without drawing a combination of districts which together are just as likely to elect someone who is the candidate of choice for the minority communities of either Jacksonville or Orlando. And that is not possible. Splitting the minority vote in half reduces their chances of controlling a given district by much more than half.

    In 2000 before they redistricted I was in District 8. Now District 8 is across the street from me. All I want is to be back in District 8.
